Northallerton karate Club was established in 1971 and is associated to
the Japan Karate Association and follows their guidelines for training and
gradings.
The Japan Karate Association was formed in 1948 by the founder of "present-day"
karate Gichin Funakoshi (1867-1957). This style of karate is know throughout
the world as Shotokan
In addition to traditional Shotokan Karate the Northallerton Shotokan
Karate Club also teaches practical self defence techniques.
